Here are some pictures I took the other day at RAF Cosford.....they are licensed for non-commercial or profit making use so ok here i checked.

Hope they are ok posted on this part of the AAA forum?

I took a load more but i was particularly interested in the engines they have...this is only a very small selection..they have lots of other engines including all the earliest jet engines up to modern afterburning marvels!

They also have loads of rocket motors including the me163's engine which i will photograph in the future...

Mad as it sounds i forgot to take a pic of their spitfire..reportedly the oldest spitfire anywhere in the world!


I was with a family friend and never had time to take pics of everything but i will return one day and catalogue the lot!

A very early 1914 rotary engine using just 6 cylinders and used in the Austin Whippet whatever that was!

Moving up the evolutionary ladder is the Bentley br2 used in the famous Sopwith snipe.

now were talking...a lovely Merlin vee 12.......don't know what this model is!...if anyone has any ideas cos the placard never said lol...looks like an earlier one to me.

Now am pretty sure this was a Mitsubishi Kinsei from a zero but please correct me if am wrong i couldn't see a placard for it

moving up the power scale and complexity! this is the cyclone R-3350 famous for powering the B-29 amongst others.

A classic commercial engine used all over the world the Lycoming flat 4...air cooled for simplicity and reliability of course.

The museum has lots of plastic kits ...these two are among the best ...they are scratch built! ie no actual kit as such..... you have to make the lot...the moulds and all the bits and pieces!

Thats it i wont bore you any longer i have took loads of pics of other planes these are mainly the engines....
