However if MUAS could have a look at GASTON mod for the next countries this could save us a little bit of work. Thanks to both for the nice MODS it is nice to be able to display country markings and add squadrons to the gameThat is right, but it will probably result in an hibrid mod, with Marking Mods 4 new countries plus all other provided by Gaston's More Nations and Squadrons mod. It might be a solution for some of you who just want to have one Custom Nations mod, but it will loose all its consistency, specialy for online use.
Let's clear some things first.
Marking Mods its not really a truly mod but an upgrade of the stock nations provided by the out of the box IL-2. In fact, I added 4 new countries using the very same method of army implementation of the stock countries. I wanted the new countries to work exactly as the original ones, with no side effects, specialy online.
I didn't bother to much with new squadrons because they are easy to implement - its just plain text editing and anyone can add whatever squadron he wants. Maybe I should have mentioned that in the readme.
New countries, on the other hand, are a diferent business. The IL-2 engine needs to load them up, and needs to know which side they fly for, among other things...
I still need to do a little more testing to be sure everything is working as it should, prior to go on with more nations.
Meanwhile, everyone who wants custom nations in this sim can help by providing the following:
- - choose an aircraft historicaly associated with the country you'd like to have in the sim
- choose which of the ingame country fuselage codes layout better suits that aircraft
- choose which of the ingame country codes that shows on the online player list better suits that aircraft
- provide a default skin for that aircraft
I'll do my best to add it to Marking Mods the way I believe it should be done.
Have fun.
