Try it with the Buffalo or one of the Russian planes- these have full mixture control. Planes like the Spitfire or the P 51 do not. Many others such as the US Navy Fighters only have the option to use full rich (110%) or auto rich (100%). You cannot for example "lean out" the engine on the F4U to shut it down.

Interesting subject and I hope you sort things out Aussie Pilot.

Murph, yes on the F4U (120%, then after launch back to 100%) but the SBD and B-17s can fully adjust mixture.

Have'nt experimented with others.
