re the raaf spit, is there historical records with them in that large white stripe on the wings and in front of the elevators? were the raaf painters to lazy to do invasion stripes properly so just did one bloody big stripe or did they run out of black paint? lol

Actually, I believe those were stripes denoting service in the Pacific (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I have a couple of models of Spits with the same sorts of markings.
