F22-Raptor-2006 Wrote:Regarding making skins for this F-86 i've got 7 done so far in a matter of 2-3 days. I think the easiest and best way of doing it is to use lots and lots of layers in general. Every added bit u make do it in a new layer and then view it in il2 and come back again to edit the layer. Once you've done one wing you can replicate the layer onto the other wing etc... So you will always get even wings and you don't have to draw it twice. Remember the tail needs 10 degree rotation to left or right for your lines to be straight on the plane. The UV mapping helps a lot when you don't know where the next bit is etc as it is mapped somewhere else. Put the opacity of the layer on 50% and put it above everything else and then save what you have done and view it in il2 again and you can use the UV lines as guide lines of where to paint etc....
I'm no good with lighting so for a general bare metal effect if you put down the opacity of the folder that you are painting in (eg. 75%) then you will get that metal effect on your plane.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, it is helpful. I'm still learning how to use GIMP. Although it makes things so much easier since I used to make skins in MS Paint and that was a nightmare.
I'm starting a camo scheme for the 86, anything I should know about creating the curves formed between the colors?
Thanks again.
