Just on a hunch, I loaded a 1024x1024 skin (a resized 512 skin of course) into a basic 4.07 version of Il-2.
In the FMB I got the following screen, but when in game the Pe-8 showed a default skin.
In a way it's an advance of sorts, since in my normal game version of 4.09, a 1024 Pe-8 skin isn't even accepted in the FMB at all.
Odd goings-on.
