lowering internal cockpit engine sounds
#5

There are MANY things that affect sound level and many ways to fix. Here are a few ways

1) Preset Files. These control how sounds work for specific engines. They are located within Files/Presets/Sounds. Within them there are many settings but [SPL] controls sound intensity level (setting in dB). Default is 100dB. Altering this mainly affects the volume and distance heard outside. I don't recommend doing this, really a last resort and as mentioned, only affects external volume

2) Sound Settings. Try altering the sound quality and turning hardware acceleration on or off. Depending on your soundcard brand, you may find different settings can alleviate the problem.

3) Samples. Not all of the aircraft samples are normalized or of the same quality, hence they do vary a lot in volume. I recommend using a free program called Audicity. It will allow you to edit all the sound files and make them normalized and cleaner. Samples are located in files/samples. You need to alter the SAMPLES to make internal sounds quieter.

I hope that helps. Sound balancing is pain since som many facotrs affect it in IL-2/
