Hi guys,
I'm starting to get my head around 3D Studio's basic tools and also the process of model creation in Il-2. A *HUGE* jump from modelling and hack-jobbing in Half-Life (my previous experience). Anyway I've had success in doing some minor hackjobs which involve adding in some small features (such as the fixed tailwheel for the G-4 and the oil cooler for the Bf-109G-6 Trop). I have no issue in importing objects, hacking apart and exporting a single sub-group with correct texturing. Issue I have is with multi sub-groups.
For example, if I import a wing and wish to remove an antennae and touch nothing else, when I export none of the materials are present (and hence it won't work in game). What vital step am I missing? Once I figure this out, it opens the doors for many more idea I have.
