In real life both the 109 and 190 had systems that automated almost everything from fuel mixture, supercharger stage, prop pitch etc. It was so automated that the pilot had only to worry about the throttle and the system took care of the rest. It was very efficiant and reduced pilot work load considerably.
The only time the system was (Overridden) was in an emergancy if the system was damaged you could put prop pitch to manual and limp home at lowered RPM's
All 190's had this sytem and the 109 had them installed on the E-4 series onward. By the Battle of brittian most 109E's had been or were in the process of being retrofitted.
