Doesn't matter what game you pick. DVI will just look better than VGA. Go DVI (or DVI-HDMI). That's the short answer.
Long answer: VGA is an analogue signal. Signals degrade over distance, but analogue signals loose information if it degrades a little. Also, that analogue signal comes from a digital source (conversion Digital->Analogue), is transported over the cable to the screen and then goes digital again (conversion Digital->Analogue). Every conversion is not perfect, so the picture quality degrades a bit. So you have two conversions and an amount of cable length degrading the picture with ghosting, inaccurate colour, phase shift and what not.
DVI to DVI (or to HDMI) has a digital signal with no conversions along the way, so you get on screen what is supposed to be there.
