Have you looked at the TGA's? Yes, they are 1024x1024, but there is one texture on it in the bottom left and it covers 1/4, measuring 512x512. So he's using 4MB but could have used 1MB without loss of quality.


If what Zorin suggest is applied to the 512x512 size texture, it would then result in a file of 256kB?

Correct.

I don't know if he has access to Max, cause the best solution would have been to map the stuff so that all those lines and badges fit on a single 1024x1024 texture, which would result in one file of 1MB without any difference in quality.
