No idea if the game engine will support this, or if anyone is interested in looking into this, but here's my pitch:
when flying over a submarine that is at periscope depth, the sub is visible in light to a certain depth.
The idea of sub hunting is an unrealized element in IL-2, but I thought it worth a mention.

Back in the days when I went on a 6 month cruise in Silent Hunter 4, I realized that periscope-depth subs were sitting ducks for patrolling aircraft- indeed, it is one way the allies turned the tide of submarine warfare.
The screenshot is obviously the wrong angle, but the concept is somewhat illustrated.
It would really bring the Canary Islands map to life :wink:
Anyone interested? Is it possible?
