Well I think porto's work is tremendous. I certainly appreciate all the time, hard work and effort he has/is putting into it.
Perhaps even more important is the feeling one gets when completing a daunting task such as this whether anyone else appreciates it or not, which won't be the case here I assure you.
The map is only good for one day: Yes, and what a day it was. Probably the most important day for both the United States and Japan in the modern era. That alone makes making this map worthwhile.
Replayabuility is small: I don't know about that. The missions I made (linked in a previous post here) have been enjoyed over and over by myself and those entering my server. It's a great skill trainer and always interesting to see how you do 'this time around'.
Bottom line:
This map and this day should be recreated and distributed to the community out of tribute to those who gave their lives that day and those who served their country in the 4 terrible years that followed.
Thank you porto for taking on this map and for doing such a good job with it.
Quote: What one has to think about when investing the time and resources into making this map is the return on the investment.Return on Investment: All the mod makers do this out of the goodness of their hearts and their desire to share with the community their talents at giving all of us more immersion and enjoyment. IMO the communities acceptance of a mod is more than adequate return for the investment. As a skinner and mission builder when even one person says "WOW, that's nice" I have full return on the time and effort I invested. When many say that I feel fulfilled. I would be astounded to learn I was alone in those feelings. And I would never even hint at discouraging a content maker/modder from completing their work.
The map is only good for a one day battle and the replayability is small.
