how do i install templates of planes, i never used them before...

You are actually thinking of skins. Templates are used to make skins.

So you put the templates in a folder you like to use (Documents/My Pictures/ or something). Then you open a template.
You select a base colour, make a camo pattern or a specific colour skin. After that you go through all the layers and use the sliders to get the look you want. When you're happy with it, save that as a 24Bit TGA file in the ...\PaintSchemes\Skins\[aircraft]\ directory and try it out in the game.

I thought all skins had to be in BMP format for the game to recognize them in the skins folders.
