Hello Anton and Walter,
thank you for your helpful comments. If there is any other way to do what I would like to accomplish, without going through the loadout options, I would be interested.
Here is the mission scenario I am trying to create. This is going to be part of a recreation of an actual mission I found a description of in a WW II memoir.
The player and a wingman take off in fighters. Eventually, they come upon a large formation of enemy bombers/ground attack aircraft. However, these don't see the two fighters, or they perceive them as friendlies. Thus, the bombers don't fire at the the two fighters, while still carrying a full bomb loadout. I want the two fighters to be able to fly quite close to the bomber formation for a while without getting shot at by the rear gunners. However, I want the bombers to still be able to carry out their ground attack mission. This would not be possible if I simply set their loadout to "empty".
Now, one way to get this effect would be to assign all aircraft in the mission to one side, red, or blue, so the game would consider the bombers to be on the same side as the two fighters. Thus, all planes in the game would be friendlies. However, if the player decided to attack and would shoot down one of the bombers, the game would count it as a firendly kill, giving the player a negative score.
Isn't there an option, at least for multiplayer, to assign some aircraft to a third, or a neutral side? If the player were to shoot down an aircraft that the game counts as "neutral", would that still be added as a regular victory to the player's score?
Anyway, I hope you see what I am trying to do. Any other suggestions as to how to get there, would be much apprecitaed.
Thanks,
RB
