This pic isn't supposed to be realistic in any kind btw but yeah I get ur point that rockets wouldn't work but it looks better with the rockets coming out of the bays , also in that situation the me262 would be vaporised by the vulcan canon, and in a dogfight well hard to tell, depends more on the tactics that both pilots employ.
