Well, I read somewhere that US pilots first thought they had killed Bf109's and Fw190's when they poured black smoke and dove down, but this was actually the "WEP smoke" so to say. Needless to say this trick did not work long though..
Maybe it should be more transparent than damage smoke and dirrerent color?
