Hi all:
I'm most familiar with the F4U and if you look up on the top of the instrument panel you'll see a series of toggle switches. Each switch armed a pair of guns from the inner to the outer pairs. Many pilots used the inner four guns when on patrol or escort and kept the outer pair for "insurance" on the way home. So, in short, yes Tiny Tim, this is historically accurate and would be a most welcome addition - even if we have to go so far as to re-release the planes you mentioned as new aircraft in their own slots.
Great days all.
