Well, that is a good number of questions put forth. I personally do not have any
problems if you guys use my screenshots for wallpapers or whatever, but it would
be polite to at least mention the original posters name (or nickname) when re-posting
those same images. As far as putting your name on images that are not done by you,
that is not polite and if its a work of art, it could lead to a lawsuit. So stay away from
putting names of art or digital art images.
As for computer screenshots, some do fall into the category of being "artsy" and may
be used by that author of the images for artistic purposes, so its best to always ask
the original poster if you may use those images for other means.
It never hurts to ask politely. We are all freinds in this community, so we can all get along
with each other very well. No need to "steal" or "harm" anyone, if we can all get along as
friends.
Some images that you might see, may seem like screenshots, but in fact took countless of
hours to create and they are indeed no mere screenwshot from a game, but rather aviation
digital art. Those artists place their signitures on them with pride, for it took many many hours,
even days to create such a scene. That person may feel good about the image and likes to
share it with his freinds, so he posts it up in forums for creative feedback, comments and/or
suggestions from his friends. So it would be totally uncalled for and illegal to go publish that
image into a book or calender or T-shirt, without some type of written permission from the
original creator/author. That is unpolite and could also lead to copyright infringement... meaning
your are stealing it without consent from teh maker and may soon be faced with some hardcore
lawyers knocking at your door, and that could lead to some serious court problems for you.
Yes, the law protects images placed on the internet. So be careful, and talk things over with a
good lawyer that knows the international laws, before you start using images/art.
If my images do not have my signiture on them , I give you permission to use them for whatever
you may wish. It is my gift for you. Enjoy them
If they have my signiture on them, then you better ask me first, because it may well be
something I want to use for creating a book or something else later on and I have it copyrighted.
So, its always better to ask first.
