x3 ideas for Mods: V1 Speed, Campaign Ranks, MoD Manager
#1

Got some ideas for mods, whaddya think guys?

1) V1 speeds: the Oleg out of box cruises at approx. 240mph IAS, a bit slow as it goes for the real deal was whopping along at anything from 250mph to 400+! Now originally few of the player flyables would have been able to intercept it when the V1 came to Il2 so I think gave it a slower crusing speed so Spit IXs, Mustangs etc could keep up. Now however we have Tempests and the Monster MkXIV Spit and you're not even at half throttle to formate!

Is there anyone who could look at this and adjust?

2) The campaign ranks and flight positions are just wrong - as a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF I should be leading a Flight, not playing wingman. Similarly a Flying Officer should leading the 2nd element of a Flight, not playing wingman to the flight lead.

This is current system (substitute your countries ranks):

1 - Group Captain
2 - Flight Lieutenant
3 - Player not allowed!
4 - Pilot Officer

5 - Wing Commander
6 - Player not allowed!
7 - Player not allowed!
8 - Player not allowed!

9 - Player not allowed!
10 - Player not allowed!
11 - Player not allowed!
12 - Player not allowed!

13 - Squadron Leader
14 - Flying Officer
15 - Player not allowed!
16 - Flight Sergeant

Wrong! Notice you never get to lead the 2nd element in any section - odd huh? I feel it should look like this:

1 - Group Captain/Wing Commander/Squadron Leader
2 - Pilot Officer
3 - Flying Officer
4 - Flight Sergeant

5 - Flight Lieutenant
6 - Pilot Officer
7 - Flying Officer
8 - Flight Sergeant

9 - Flight Lieutenant
10 - Pilot Officer
11 - Flying Officer
12 - Flight Sergeant

13 - Flight Lieutenant
14 - Pilot Officer
15 - Flying Officer
16 - Flight Sergeant

It's all a bit cocked up - can anyone help?

3) I think we really need a Mod Manager - a Program that quickly ID's what mods you have and allows you to 'arm' or 'disarm' them. I know we have unified installer all, but I doubt many of us have the same mods installed at anyone point what with WiPs and our own personal preferences. The added value of this is a log file could be created for the program which IDs the setup at anyone time and you could save your mod setup for a particular server or your own offline favourites. Servers could even write a log file of the mods they use for program users to download and have a one mouseclick op to ensure they match server settings.

Well, any takers?

Cheers

Tom
