Q: If other sites create their own buttons file, does this mean that the AC installers are now redundant ?
A: The ac installers will still continue but will not have a specific flavor.
Q: will the buttons file from the sites sas/raf662 be released here ?
A: I really don't know how to answer this question. For instance there are specific button files for Ultrapack, SEOW, C6, AAA, RAF662, SAS and every other modding sites out there. I seriously doubt posting button files from every site will be a positive move. The only solution as I had mentioned is one unified button files.
Q: Will the other sites buttons file contain all the FM's for planes released here as well as on other sites ?
A: Doubtful. As an example, the B25 strafers that are not out at this time. Each of those have their own FM with the exception of the B25J15. I would bet that as soon as those aircraft are available their FM will be tweaked even though I spent allot of time documenting them. It's like salt at a dining table, the user now has the ability to add as much salt as they choose. The only option we all have standardization.
Q: Will the new buttons file conflict with the one we already have in 3.8 AC installer ?
A: No it blends perfectly. I have the 1.2 installed as well as 5 other guys that are in 1.2 Pre Alpha testing and we have not had one negative issue.
Q: What happens if different sites make different planes but the buttons file is not updated with each other and the two ( or more) different sites lose track of what planes FM's have been added, surely this will cause game crashes/problems ?
A: The only positive on the ac installer (new button files) is that all the aircraft and engines and sounds and wave files must be present. Having the data in the button files and the aircraft not loaded is not an issue. However, the issue comes when you add an aircraft to your mod that is not referenced in the button files. That's when bad things happen, like aircraft exploding (no engine); no sounds (missing prs files for new engines), the game wont load ... and the list goes on.
Again, the main thing is Standardization.
Q: Will there be posts made here with links to other sites re new planes etc ?
A: Yes we can post to other sites.
Q: Is AAA breaking up or will it be used as a hub for other sites ?
A: The AAA is not breaking up, many of us are working hard for the entire community not just AAA. Our focus is global rather than local.
Q: Why is it that some planes have in accurate FM's and these i mean new slot. if there is a certain standard, then why is this not being met ?
I joined AAA in 2007 and had my doubts about "over the top" FM's and mr j said that they would not be overdone ie, uber planes and such. But I see all to many times that some new planes are , let's say, slightly over done and others slightly under done.
A: The main reason for this issue is lack of standardization. Meaning no specific document itemizing the metrix to be used during testing. As an example, we have a standard atmosphere map developed by 2Bits which we are using for all flight testing. We are focusing on the new aircraft in 1.2 to be included to have a thorough test with the results published and allow the end user to examine and decide weather to use them or not.
Other aircraft (new slot aircraft) in the unified mod will be tested as time allows.
We must all remember one thing, many people try their best to get it right but without one standard, things may not work out as planned.
