I really dont find the AA guns to be that accurate as i mentioned in my first post here.
It all depends on hight.
The problem with just getting a few shoots at you in altitude isnt the guns range but the problem is the AI whom spot you range. maxattackrange. its shaped like a dome around the aa and if you arent in the dome then they wont shoot at you while in real life you would spoot thoose incomming bombers way of and be ready and fire as soon as they come into range of the guns.
The range of the guns are accually fairly correct from what i have been reading. You have max range and you have effectiv range.. Like mentioned the bofors has a range of 9-10 km, but it was only effective up to about 2 km .
the 88mm had a effective range/celing of about 8000 meters but could shoot 12000-15000 meters
The only guns that are way out of realistick range in game are the larger ground based guns. as mentioned they only have a max range in game at 6000 meters while some of them accually had a max range of 15000 meters.
Coastal guns that ive been asking for had upto 40000 meters+ range
Thats why making coastal fortresses has no meaning in the game as the battleships can set them self at 7000 meters range and without any risk pound the living daylight out of the coastal forts. not correct compared to real life where ships accually avoided coastal installations if possible.
When making flak possistions around airfields and other imortant positions i use the german way of setting up the defense.
I place them in a triangel around the airfield using 4 88mm in each box(real life was usually 16) pluss 2x 37mm in centre. max attack distance is 5000 meters for the 88 so all 3 boxes are placed so they give somkinda protection for each other and therefor more concentrated flak as enemy aircraft come over the base it self. the boxes where never as i have read placed inside the bases as for the reason was that you rather want the shoot the plane down before it gets over target and not when on target.
