hey moggy i had the sam problem.....
last month i bought myself a new system with vista 64....
like you i couldnt install it from my disk,, all the disk would do was give me the first language option before install and that was it....
the disk just span and span but nothin....
serching all the forums didnt help , all i got was run this as admin or change that blah blah blah.... but again no joy...
i solved all this by by simply
(1) copying my ubisoft folder in the c drive program files on my older pc
(2) draging them to my exturnal hard drive
(3) then simply pasting the ubisft folder from the external hard drive to program files on the vista rig...
BINGO
one small set back though , on my old system i always had two il2 1946 folders...(YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY AS YOU LIKE)
one that was original and the other i use with the early sound mod, both were identical in name so that the one that was not in use i would change the name manualy as you cant have the same named file or folder in a folder together...
the set back being that vista for some reson would not run the original version (DIDNT SEEM TO RUN THE DISK) but when i use the sound modded folder which i do 99% of the time any way runs perfectly.....(NO DISK NEEDED)
