What about editing air.ini? Did you do that correctly?
What buttons file did you use? Does one come with those aircraft, or are they included in Aircraft Installer 3.8?
What do you mean by the "almighty buttons folder"? There is a buttons file. You should have only one, and it should be located in ...\files\gui\game\
