cuz my Grandfather who was actually in the war saw a P-51 with about 13 % of its right wing cut off land, course it flipped out on landing but the pilot was relativly uninjured

in addition, I've read of many occasions where a plane lost as much as a few feet of its wing and returned to base. I doubt it counts, but I have also landed an RC plane when the skin tore off the last 6" or so of a 3 foot (6' wingspan) wing.

I think the reason the game doesn't simulate this, is because of limitations in the game engine, and that, in many planes, the wing is either on, or has lost at least 1/3 of it, which in most planes, is enough to bring upon an uncontrolled spin.
