gflinch Wrote:Holy cow, just reading some of the posts on the UBI forum thread, these are dated 2005 and ppl are talking about IL2 still having a bit of life in it. Funny how far we have come in such a few years. It seems that IL2 may have a LONG life at this rate. In some way I fear BOB being released and sucking the wind out of all the MODS. I know I will be tempted to pay BOB a lot more attention for a while, but I doubt that IL2 will not stay on my HD, its been there since 2001. Besides BOB will initially only have a few planes and certainly not the IL2 or the GO229 that *I* like. So I am sure it will hag around until SOW completely replaces our experience with IL2 series.

Way back several years ago, I was flying the original IL-2 with a close friend of mine, offline simming. We knew then that this platform has almost endless potential, as many of us at AAA have written. Pacific Fighters came and we loved it.
So much has happened in all these years. Only this year I finally got my fill of offline and discovered AAA by searching Yahoo!. I downloaded V4.08 because of the desire to join the modders.
My thought is that thousands of people have followed generally parallel courses to come to the same basic point in the IL-2 sim community of modders. 1C: Maddox Games globally planted the seeds that caused the growth and the eagles are still coming home to roost. If the community gives honor where honor is due, Maddox is smart enough to know that it is going to make his company more profit. The eagle offspring, so to speak, should kiss the mouth that feeds them and all will be well!
So, my advice is to continue to give 1C: Maddox free advertising-vigorously- to keep V4.08 sales flowing. No eagle would harm a grateful, happy cluck of eaglets, though the IL-2 sim community is maturing. Eagles move to there own territory. This too must happen-its inevitable.
It's self-evident that Maddox knows about AAA and many other smaller endeavers. They know through marketing analysis exactly what is happening. We here at AAA are coming to realize more how integral and integrated we are with 1C: Maddox Games. The thing still has much growth remaining in it.
Another issue is that IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey will expand the market base of console gaming, ensuring a strong following of non-modder fans as a base for the upcoming BoBSow. Include BoPrey in your history-please, because it will play an important roll in the global expansion of combat fligtht simulation.
The long term migration to BoBSoW will take years yet provide much larger opportunities with global integration continuing to expand the market for 1C: Maddox. To summerize, it is clear that AAA is actually part of the market that sends money to 1C: Maddox. Oleg Maddox must actually be salivating in the awareness that AAA is going to be the base for a massive lunch of Storm of War: Battle of Britain.
Some modders are even going to search for ways of combining IL-2 and SoW.
AAA and 1C: Maddox Games are working together. Embrace IL-2 history!
