Hi -
If you can do the following tests:
1. Download some 3-d game demo, like Crysis (really puts your card to the test), and see if you get the same problem. If the other 3-d games run fine, your card is OK. Go to #5.
2. Try going to an earlier driver - like 185.something - i had problems with the latest-greatest.
3. If other 3-d games have the same problem (as IL-2), download something like EVGA Precision (Google it, i think it's still freeware). It lets you monitor your GPU temperature & a bunch of other stuff as you're running IL-2 (the data's displayed in top left corner of the screen by default. Unless your temperature is climbing past ~70C, you're fine, heat-wise, though do follow the advice the other folks gave you - do clean out all the heatsinks on your computer about once every couple of months - your computer is basically a vacuum cleaner, with all the dust getting stuck in the heatsinks, especially in graphic cards, because the fins are really fine & close together - an ideal vacuum cleaner bag.
4. Pull your card out, disconnect the power. If you can use a screwdriver, you can do it. look into the slot where it sits - is it clean? do any of the contacts look bad? Now put it back in, make sure that it's *fully* seated & the little catch at the front of the slot is in the notch of the card. Push down hard - you won't hurt anything. Re-connect the power connector. Make sure it's fully seated. Fire up the computer, and see if it's still bad. If it is, Nvidia has a great return policy, exchange the card.
5. If the card's fine, move the entire Ubisoft folder from your programs directory right to your desk top, and install a fresh copy of IL-2. If the problem is gone, you've got some corrupted files in your original install. If not, delete the new install, and put your original Ubisoft folder back.
6. I can't think of anything else - hope this helps.
