C-47 Brown (worn out)

Blizzaze Wrote:Hey,
I also got two question:
1.)How to get access to the default skins, that you just want to edit? I can only find the voids under Skins.
2.)Many voids got too much white, so you can't really see the borders of the wings, e.g. ... Are there any solution for that?

Default skins can be changed as long as you know what the relative folders for the plane is called. It's basically classed as a mod. To find names for these folders you can either ask someone or extract all the .sfs files in your game to a different location and find from there.

For example if you want to change the C-47 skin you could do the following:

  1. Make the following folder structure within your mods folder so it looks like this: IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/MODS/C47_new_default_skin(name it anything you want)/3do/Plane/C-47(Multi1)/summer/

"C-47(Multi1)" could also be changed to "C-47(USA)" as the C-47 has 2 skin slots. 1 skin for US selected C-47s and the other for any other country.

  2. Inside the summer folder you need to put 4 tga files. They are: (1024x1024 4MB 32bit TGA called "skin1o.tgb" save as tga format but give it tgb extension manually) + (512x512 1MB 32bit TGA called "skin1o.tga") + (128x128 64.2kb 32bit TGA called "skin1p.tga") and finally (64x64 1.04kb 32bit TGA called "skin1q.tga")

  3. Please note the file sizes vary slightly for the last 2 smaller files.

Once you've done all of the above then you will have a new default skin.

You cannot fix the fact that the voids have too much white on them, they are white so the panel lines can be extracted easily basically. If you want something which shows you where the wings are the best thing to do is to get a template for photoshop for that plane. Make sure it has a mask otherwise You still won't know where things are unless you've skinned lots before. Masks are generally found on the more professional and accurate templates. Template sizes are around 30-80mb for the good ones, less than 30 is ok but it depends.
