Hi greg, you can definitly format C: partition on its own without anything being touched on ur D: partition, as was mentioned thou, some of ur programs might not work once win7 is installed.
From memory with beta, 1st) youll first be asked what country and keyboard settings you want, 2nd) screen was to click install, 3) followed by being asked if when u choose to install a fresh copy or upgrade, select fresh copy (obviously ) and you will be taken to a screen that shows your drives. Select your C: drive and then u will see on the bottom right hand side of the little window an option called "drive options" (i think it has like a pink eraser next to it or somethin like that). From here you can select to either delete or format the partition before the installation.
