I feel sorry for you. Some of the greatest fighter pilots in history knew when it was time to "cut and run" to survive a fight. The better pilots always knew how to use their planes advantages. It's not cowardice to dive away and then re-engage when you are able to once again have an advantage.
The Corsair could dive faster than the Zero. Pilots were trained to use that in fighting with the Zeros. Are you calling the Navy and Marine pilots who fought in WW II that used that technique cowards?
not sure what is up Spectre15 but, but his reply showed one of two things. He is upset with Aviar for some reason, or, he is totally ignorant with regards to real world tactics that were used in real life. Take your pick, neither speaks well of Spectre15. If I had to guess, Spectre15 got banned from one of Aviar's cool coops and this is his only way of getting back at him. But I digress.
As for Aviar's concern with the AI being able to dive faster than a real person in the same plane, well, that 'theory' of AI being able to do things real users can not do has been around for a long time. There was some pretty good tests done by folks that showed it may in fact be the case. Assuming for a moment that is the case, it is not PeterD's fault the game engines has errors or limitations in it that allow the AI to do things real users cant. I wouldn't expect PeterD to add something just to try and account for or try offset that error/bug/limitation. Granted that is not the reason he 1st included it, but as with most things as more info is obtained changes are made. Take the P38 fire extinguishers for example. Now with that said, if it is the case that AI can push planes harder than real users than it is something we have been dealing with since day one. Thus we will just have to continue to deal with it. Unless someday some modder finds that low level AI code and changes it such that they can not dive faster than real people or run engines in overheat conditions for ever, etc.
