Quote:It is related to the chocks.
On mission start the oil pressure starts dropping, as soon as you release the chocks the problem rectifies itself. If I recall correctly if you engage chocks again the problem does not occur, so its only in the initial phase where you enter the aircraft at the beginning of the mission (when you first "spawn in" to the mission on the carrier's deck).
For those who've niticed this, in the IL2 physics model, the first time you release chocks on the deck of the aircraft carrier the aircraft falls a couple of inches, as if it was hovering stationary above the deck when the mission starts.
My hunch is that the game engine thinks the aircraft is upside down until you release the chocks and "fall" on the deck of the CV, and therefore starts depriving the engine of oil until it eventually starves out seizes the engine (even before you've started the engine).
Can't remember if the AI was affected by this or not, but for human players the solution is on mission start (initial spawning in on the deck) to immediately toggle the chocks out and back in again. This drops the aircraft on the deck and keeps this bug from grounding your aircraft.
