HSFX 4.01 is not out yet. It's said it will be more inclusive of UI mods.

To summarise - I have patched a vanilla 4.08m to 4.09m and added HSFX - working
I have 4.09b modded on another rig - as yet unpatched - so untested.
Guess your choices should be governed by whether it's for online or offline play.
