Actually, it was a "Cat's Mouth." VF27 flew their F6F's aboard the U.S.S. Princeton. As an interesting little sidenote, when the Princeton went down, most of her airgroup were airborne, and had to land on other carriers.
The more hardnosed Navy officers aboard those other ships didn't like seeing those faces painted on Navy airplanes. After all, it was against Navy policy to adorn aircraft with such flamoboyant paintschemes. They were ordered removed, and the Cats' Mouths dissapeared forever.
