Very good story. I like it.
The one I'm following was the actual plan that the allies put together to deal with an expected invasion by Stalin in 1946-48. Most people don't realize that the US and Britain had a massive demobilization right after VJ Day. We had only 2 divisions in Europe that were capable of fighting in May 1946. We had many place holder units on paper but they were gutted and not functional.
The atomic bombs at the time were clumsy/huge and took months to assemble and then had to be used in 8 days. They could only be delivered by a B29 and we only had 3 of them at the start of 1946 and only 6 at the end of the year. So my premise is that Stalin finds this out and attacks while he can.
