Thirdwire do a good range of postwar/modern combat flight sims too; Wings over Vietnam, Isreal, Europe plus Strike Fighters which is also jets. Lock-on is similar. Aside from first 2 their all "what-if's". Personally I find WOV boring - just my opinion. WOI is okay - at least there was actually combat, and its nice to get away from the usual US thing for a change.
The others I've played just a couple of times and then drifted back to il-2. Jets+missiles+radar just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. As an historical buff there's not much that actually happened either. Yet there's still campaigns and theatres of war in il-2 that have yet to be done, along with hundreds of real aircraft that actually saw combat.
I agree that we should try and keep modern aircraft out of il-2, at least until all aspects of WW11 are covered. Il-2 is a great WW11 flight sim and should be kept that way I reckon.
