350w power supply is adequate for your system. If it wasn't, you would get random rebooting or random PC turning off. This is what happens when a power supply is inadequate to supply enough power or if the power supply is going bad. I've installed a Geforce 8800 on a 350w power supply before, and it was perfectly stable (though not recommended, it was done simply because the user had no other option but to wait until he had enough money for a better power supply). Not all power supplies are the same, and the watt rating is very often misleading. If your computer runs with no reboots or random shutdowns, you are probably fine.
However, if you have a smell coming from your computer (especially a burning smell, a metallic smell, or any kind of "wrong" smell) you have something going bad, almost certainly. Look for something like this first on the motherboard and the video card:
Then check to see (while the computer is running) if the power supply is causing the smell. Put your nose right by the exhaust and if the smell is strongest there replace the power supply immediately, shut the computer down and don't run it any more until you have replaced it.
