I did a quick check of wikipedia about the R-5 and apparently ~7000 were built in 19 different civil/military variants. 4914 of the base R-5 variant alone were produced and used heavily in WWII and the preceding conflicts. This number is larger than any one variant of the He111 although I agree that a refresh of the Heinkel is badly needed (along with some true late-war variants). Given the size of the R-5 fleet I think it is very hard to argue against its inclusion in IL-2. I look forward to shooting it down
