If anything it was a research prototype that wouldn't have made the grade as a warplane even if it worked. There's an opinion that the Germans built anything wierd and odd - not so. For all their embrace of technological solutions (at least up until the late war period) they were usually barely more tolerant of unconventional design than any other conservative-minded nation. It was only desperation that made them seek stranger answers but that policy just wasn't going to work when new designs might need a year or two to sort out even if relativeley straightforward.
