Before I try this, I would like to know what the advantages and disadvantages are for this. What capabilities do we gain?

Well, this was also one of my first thoughts, but later on I realised that then we can have only one Il2 install, not separate one for MapBuilding, what might be useful for older computers with less space on HD.
