Forgive me if I misunderstand your last post, but you should have absolutely NO mods of any kind installed before installing 4.09m, otherwise it won't work.
Start with whatever version you have on the DVD, be it 4.07 or 4.08 ( I think Il2 1946 is ver. 4.07). Patch using official patches 4.08, then 4.09m (NOT the beta!). Test each time you install a patch to make sure you're still in business.
Once you have 4.09m installed and in good working order, provided you have hard drive space, make a copy of the game's main folder and save it for a backup. That way you can mod one of these if you wish to and still had an unmodded version for installing the next patch when it comes out later this spring.
