This will re-enable the button mapping feature (recorder) of the V4.x software.

Enhanced Virus Protection EVP build into the AMD64bit CPU, which is activated by Win XP SP2, causes problem with Recorder Panel of Microsoft Sidewinder 2.


To solve the problem:
log in as Admin
go to "Control Panel" > "System"
select "Advanced" >"Performance" > "Settings"
seclect "Data Execution Prevention"
select "Turn on DEP for all programs....exept those I select".
Click on "Add", then browse to c:\windows\system32 then in the File name text box type: joy which will show a unlisted file called joy.cpl
select the file joy.cpl after which you are taken back to the DEP Dialog Box
"Game Controllers Contol Panel Applet" will appear with a check mark in front of it
Click Apply
Restart Computer

Now you can open the panel Recorder and assign Macros to Buttons.

This Problem will only happen with systems of AMD 64bit under WinXP SP2
