I have been looking at the pilot meshes for my Walrus project recently.

The goggles are included on the pilot skin
The lens of the goggles are defined separately as a transparent glass material.

This is the mapping for the pilot head.
The bits above the face are for the goggles, straps, flying helmet etc.
The large shape is the lens of the goggle which is a glass material.
