This is an ex RNZAF machine, it had its rocket rails and tail hook removed at per every RNZAF Corsair.
This machine was assembled on Los Negros as FG-1D serial 3205 NZ5648, it wasnt used on operations and was ferried back to NZ and sold for scrap.
It was saved and restored to taxing condition in 1963 and sold to the US where it was restored to flying, at this point it was fitted with the squared off tips and painted in the VF-17 markings (also had 'big hog' on the tail)
It was then brought back to New Zealand where it currently resides and the only change to the markings was the addition of the duck motif.
