The P-80 and the P-51 use the same K-14 "acemaker" gunsight which uses a gyro to help the pilot aim. You will need to bind some keys to the bombsight controls. Bombsight automation changes the sight from a fixed ring to gyro with six points. You can also adjust the size of the points based on wingspan. Some presets are Bf-109, FW-190, Do-217 etc. Changing the distance of the sight also changes its size.
So, if you are in a P-51 and spot a Bf-109, set your sight to "Bf-109" and adjust the distance to get his wingtips to fit inside your sight, or wait to get close enough so his wingtips fit, and then fire away!
The radar in the P-80 makes things easier because it adjusts the distance automatically. Just select wingspan based on your target. This is not modeled in the game however.
