British R/T chatter pack in UTWR
#16

The original British r/t always amused or irritated me with one major respect - that idiot asking for permission to 'pancake' which meant crash-land wheels up. I suspect this new pack (which I haven't heard) makes similar if less obvious mistakes by using modern terminology and behaviour. British pilots were actually very quiet over the radio and were instructed to remain so by their superiors so instructions could be heard by all. Any RAF pilot shouting "I got one!" over the radio is going to told very sharply not to do that again. That's why HQ got so upset about the Poles flying in the Battle of Britain - they just wouldn't shut up.
