Those photographs are absolutely superb Anatoli, nice find, thank you very much. I've downloaded them from the link you sent me cheers. :wink: I will certainly give it a go. The info Akvadis sent me indicates barracks etc. around Tan Son Nhut during the Forties but it is only a sketch of the area and doesn't give any detail as such, whereas your photos show everything very precisely. I added the second runway based on those previous illustrations and modern day Google images, unfortunately your photos don't give any indication of that but do show a tremendous amount of detail that can be added, looks like I'm going to be busy on Sunday. :roll: As you say in your PM you could have a go at building it and sending me the file but I'm not sure I'm competant enough to start messing in the static.ini. :???:
Besides the airfield and surroundings have been re-moddeled since the last map update so you would need the current map, not itself a problem because I could upload it for you.

Here are a few images of the work going on at the moment.

This shows the tree map applied to a second texture, my VietnamGround.tga.



I've started to construct something to represent Cat Lai Seaplane base. I've seen photographs of Sea Otters and Catalinas at the base but unfortunately they only showed the aircraft and no detail so this is my take on things.



The next few images show the new tree map textures used to replace the wood effect of the sim that was previously used around all the airfields. This is the area around Tan Son Nhut.







I think it gives a more natural effect, you can see the trees moving in the wind which is really 8) .

It has the added bonus of allowing aircraft with a long take off run to get airborne without then running into the previous effect and exploding, just don't watch them flying through the trees eh :roll:

I was intending to upload the next WIP sometime in the next week, I'm just testing Cat Lai and I wanted to add some more detail to Saigon, as well as run the rail line from Bien Hoa through to Saigon. This added info could send me on a building spree. :lol:

It may be better if I upload as is once I've tested Cat Lai and leave the other detail till later, what do you think :?:
