The 3D model needs to be complete and fully textured before you consider importing.
I think you need to do a little more work on the model first.
Have you compared it with photos of the real thing?
You are using way too many polys on the fuselage for example, and yet still it does not look exactly right because you have not "smoothed" the surfaces. Lots of important details missing.
Are you working "by eye" or with blueprints setup in your modelling software?
If you look at the plan Fisneaky has provided you can see that the sides of the fuselage should be slightly curved on plan.
If you overlay your model on the plan they should line up closely.
At the moment there is significant variation between the plan and the model.
Introduce more vertices where you need them, but reduce them where you don't.
