The biggest problem with VR headsets right now is video quality. Right now the best we can get without spending half the GNP of some small countries is 1024 x 768 and those are fairly bulky.
Now before anyone starts yelling "I've seen them with 1280 x 1024", let me say that, yes, they do make them with resolutions that large.
Those are also mainly used for military applications, are extremely large and bulky and cost in excess of $10,000.00 each.
Now with the use of OLED's, I think we will see the price come down and the video quality go up. Just give them a while to get it working right.
Hopefully we'll see a viable consumer version within the next 5 yrs.
