This will sound sketchy with no actual proof. But here I go.
Online Co-Op mission. Battle of Britain. Spitfire Mk.Vb. Most of our team returned home, out of ammo and fuel. 2 Me-109E-4's followed us back to base. Live players.
Our last plane shot down. And all the rest on the ground apart from me. It was do or Die. 2 on 1.
Carefully watching both 109's as they worked together. In a turning fight against my Mk.Vb Spit. Every chance I got, I would fire off a crisp accurate shot of gun and cannon fire at a 109 when I had a chance. I had luck. Rounds bounced off the wing of a 109. Damaging the delicate engine aswell. He lost energy and in the turning battle. He crash landed.
1 down, 1 to go. Still slipping around my 6, I watched every move of this 109, for a chance to break on to his six. And it came. At that chance I opened up damaging the aircraft in the same manner as the first. With his engine out he gave up. And crash landed. With no cannon ammo left. They put up a brilliant fight. And I left them alive outside our airfield.
I landed the aircraft. Heart racing like no tomorrow!
One of my best combats in my time in Il-2. Period.
