@KG64_Cnopicilin: No, feathers aren't a mistake. It was common practice to embellish armour, especially during a tourney, out of a sense of occaision, an instinctive need to impress, and to aid visual identity. It also has the property of making the wearer seem bigger than he actually is.

@Verhängnis: Nope, knights sometimes went to the seaside too, and I recall Richard the Lionheart conducted an amphibious landing on the beaches of the Holy lands as an example.
